FS International joined the Italian mission to Guinea, supported by the Italian Embassy in Conakry, in order to investigate market opportunities and establish contacts with local counterparts.
The bilateral business forum highlighted significant potential to increase rail freight with particular regard to the carriage of bauxite, relying on Guinea's mineral wealth.
Within this context, links from mines to ports are crucial to the country’s economic development, still facing major gaps in infrastructure.
The delegation from FS International was composed of Gino Scaccia and Filippo Scotti, respectively President and CEO, who met Guinean institutions and stakeholders. “Investment forecasts, mainly addressed to port enhancement, confirm a promising scenario for transport and logistics sector growth”, explained Filippo Scotti. "We are following market trends carefully in Guinea and in those sub-Saharan Africa countries where political and social stability may offer a favourable business environment”.
FS International can make a fundamental contribution to the improvement of the railway connections in Africa, transferring consolidated skills and knowledge on integrated, safe and sustainable mobility systems.
