On 14 October 2025, the FS Group hosted a delegation from Infrabel, the Belgian railway infrastructure manager, for a day of discussions and technical review.
The event, organised by FS International, gave the delegation an overview of the FS Group’s structure, its expertise and areas of excellence, with a particular focus on the experience it has gained in the high-speed rail sector beyond Italy’s borders.
FS Holding’s Global Strategy & International Department, which had already been in contact with Infrabel in recent months, provided an overview of the Group’s international development strategies.
For its part, Infrabel presented its network and its plans to open up the infrastructure to new rail operators, highlighting the services offered and the technical characteristics of the network.
Following the meeting, the visit continued in Bologna, where the delegation – after travelling on the Frecciarossa 1000 high-speed train and enjoying a tour of the driver’s cab – visited the RFI Operations Centre, gaining an in-depth understanding of the planning and monitoring processes for the Italian rail network and seeing for themselves the advanced digital solutions and integrated traffic management systems in place.
The meeting provided a fruitful opportunity for discussion with a key player in European rail transport, marking a further step towards the FS Group’s objective of promoting the development of passenger rail transport abroad with a view to creating a “European Underground”.
