On 26 and 27 February 2026, FS Group hosted a delegation from East Japan Railway Company (JR East) for a technical debate on digitalisation and maintenance of railway infrastructure.
The initiative, promoted and coordinated by FS International, involved RFI, which showcased its expertise in the use of 3D modelling, BIM and point cloud technologies applied throughout the entire life cycle of infrastructure projects. The debate also explored topics such as the durability of polymer insulators, preventive maintenance strategies based on condition monitoring and predictive asset management, the adoption of standard information models to support monitoring, maintenance work scheduling, and technical information traceability.
The initiative included a meeting at RFI’s National Operations Centre in Rome, focusing on network management and monitoring, and service continuity processes, and a visit by Frecciarossa train to the Naples Afragola High-Speed station, where operational and maintenance aspects, and solutions designed to support reliability, safety and service quality were analysed in thorough detail.
This initiative confirms how international technical dialogue can drive the development of innovative solutions in the rail sector, as part of the process of building on the relationship between FS Group and leading Japanese operators, such as JR East, recognised globally for their technological excellence, advanced digital systems and cutting-edge operational models.
