New milestone for NETINERA: the first Mireo trains successful acceptance phase

Länderbahn GmbH (DLB), a subsidiary of NETINERA, reached a significant milestone: the newly delivered Mireo trains have successfully passed their final acceptance tests.

DLB will begin operating on the S3, S5 and S5X lines in Leipzig from December 2026.

On 6 March 2026, two new railway carriages were officially added to the fleet, and this milestone was met with great excitement by the project team members.

For the first time ever, two vehicles were tested at the same time in Leipzig, one headed toward the main station and the other through the City Tunnel - two crucial hubs for the new transport contract due to start in December.

The final acceptance process involved several technical and formal steps, such as the approval, registration, route compatibility checks and comprehensive technical documentation, to ensure safe operation for passengers.

“With the acceptance phase behind us, Siemens is already delivering high-quality Mireo trains. After completion of the final steps, passenger services will be launched in December with these amazing trains for both us and the passengers - said Silvio Redlich, Head of Vehicle Technology and Vehicle Projects, alongside Mario Glöckner, Head of the ‘Vehicles’ sub-project for the Central German S-Bahn.

After the successful testing phase, the first Mireo trains are now being used for driver training, to prepare for the new transport contract.
