On 19 August 2026, the contracting authority LNVG awarded erixx the contract to operate the so-called “Saltexpress”, which will run through the picturesque Lüneburg Heath starting December 2028.
The service contract, which will initially last until December 2033, concerns hourly regional services with a journey time of approximately 50 minutes. It is estimated that the service will be used by around 3,000 passengers a day, totalling around 690,000 train-kilometres a year.
What’s more, on 30 July, Länderbahn/DLB was once again awarded the contract for the Munich–Prague transitional service. This means that Länderbahn will continue to operate the current alex services from December 2028 onward. At first, the contract will remain in force until the end of 2031. These successful awards mean that NETINERA/Länderbahn will continue to play a significant role in Bavarian transport and cross-border connections with the Czech Republic.
